The $250,000 Mental Health & Addictions Campaign is in support of Eastern Health’s ongoing efforts to enhance Mental Health & Addictions services on the Burin Peninsula.

The Burin Peninsula was recently identified as a site for a newly formed Flexible Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) team. This team, consisting of six members, will provide outreach and intensive care to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. The implementation of FACT teams is a provincial initiative with the goal to ensure that persons with severe mental illness living in rural and remote areas have access to the best care possible.

The plan is to house the team in the Marystown Community Health building with an additional six clinical therapeutic recovery spaces on the Burin Peninsula that will require modifications: two in the Burin Hospital, one in the Placentia West Health Centre, one in US Memorial, and two in the Dr. S Beckley Health Centre.
